Join us to build the ecosystem for grid-connected energy storage in San Jose, California on September 30 – October 2, 2014!
2014 will be a turning point for the U.S. offshore wind energy industry. With projects in advanced stages of development, plans for lease auctions in several states, and an upcoming announcement of finalists for the Department of Energy’s Advanced Technology Demonstration Project Initiative, the U.S. offshore wind energy industry is picking up speed and momentum. 2014 will be a critical year; don’t get left behind as the industry and the players move forward.
Portugal and the United States of America have joined efforts in 2014 to organize the WavEC Annual Seminar entitled “Fostering Transatlantic Growth of Marine Renewables”.
The conference is organized in collaboration with the Embassy of the United States of America and American Chamber of Commerce in Portugal supported under the high patronage of His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Portugal and sponsorships of EDP, A. Silva Matos, Vieira de Almeida Law Firm, PwC and TA DMC.
New technologies and prototypes mean marine renewables are moving rapidly towards commercialization. Portugal is a leader among European countries in the development of renewable energy, namely offshore floating wind. Developing strategies that focus on industrialization, cost‐reduction and improvements in performance and reliability are of chief importance.
The Seminar will be organized around four panel sessions, each focusing on a specific theme: Associated challenges to harnessing marine energy and solutions; Logistic requirements for marine energy development; Partnering with the private sector and co‐financing; United States – Portugal technical cooperation.
Speakers and experts from the United States, Portugal and Europe: Portuguese Ministers of Energy and the Sea, MIT Portugal, EDP Renewables, INESC TEC, WavEC, Luso‐American Development Foundation, Northwest National Renewable Energy, Ocean Renewable Energy Coalition, SeaPlan, Clean Reach and Principle Power, among others.
The International Conference on Ocean Energy (ICOE) is the global marine energy event focused on the industrial development of renewable marine energy. Held every two years, the goal of the conference is to share recent experiences from research and demonstration efforts. It aims to accelerate development by stimulating collaboration networks between companies and research and development centres. It also specifically targets engagement of the experience of operators in related marine and power industry sectors.
ICOE 2014 will be held at November 4-6, 2014. The host city for ICOE 2014 is Halifax, in Nova Scotia, Canada.
OES is creating an open public archive of materials from each past ICOE events, due to go live mid-November.
NWEC is the Conference for Today’s Environmental and Operations Managers. Designed to provide companies with information they need to compete and thrive in today’s economy, this signature event is the largest, most comprehensive environmentally-focused conference and trade show in the Northwest. Now in its 26 th year, over 500 attendees are expected at NWEC’s two-day event.

The International Marine Renewable Energy Conference (IMREC) offers researchers, technology developers, policy makers, NGOs, and industry representatives the opportunity to discuss financing instruments, best management practices, and global regulatory developments regarding marine renewable energy.
Join industry leaders and learn the latest on U.S. and international marine energy projects, environmental monitoring, design tools, testing infrastructure, offshore safety and construction, and the evolving trends and markets of this technology. Also, come hear about the Department of Energy’s new “Wave Energy Converter Prize” competition and plans for funding technology development as well as the U.S. Navy’s role in commercializing marine energy technologies for new applications.
Marine Energy Technology Symposium (METS)
The 3nd Annual Marine Energy Technology Symposium (METS) will be held as part of the inaugural International Marine Energy Conference. This conference takes place April 27-29, 2015, at the Capital Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C., and will be co-located with the National Hydropower Association’s annual conference.
METS provides a venue where technical experts can publish and present wave and water current energy research that helps accelerate the pace of technology development. Holding METS in conjunction with the International Marine Energy and the NHA conferences will provide researchers with the invaluable opportunity to interact with public and private industry stakeholders.
The METS 2015 proceedings will consist of extended abstract submissions and technical presentations. In addition, the METS review committee will invite selected presenters to author a full-length paper for inclusion in a special METS issue of the International Journal of Marine Energy.
